The Story: 20 Years of Patta x Nike
Patta and Nike share one of the longest and most respected relationships in sneaker history. It started back in 2009 with the Air Max 1 "Chlorophyll," a denim accented pair that instantly became a holy grail. But it was the Waves series of 2021 and 2022 that turned the partnership into a global phenomenon. By reshaping the classic Air Max 1 mudguard into a rippling, wave like panel, Patta created one of the few collaborations you can recognize from across the street without a single logo in sight.
For 2026, founders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt celebrate five years of Waves with a two pair pack that carries their heritage in every detail. The vibrant crimson orange is a nod to the Dutch national football team and the Dutch royal family, while every pair comes with a gold bracelet carrying charms of the Nike Swoosh and the flag of Suriname, honoring the founders' Surinamese roots. Air Max 1 Patta Waves "Hyper Crimson"
The Hyper Crimson keeps the upper clean and tonal: white and light grey flow across the signature wavy paneling, the breathable mesh base and the premium leather and suede overlays. The crimson is saved for exactly one element: the Swoosh. That single hit of color against the crisp upper makes this the sleeper favorite of the pack, and arguably the easier pair to wear every single day. The Black Crimson puts the signature wave front and center. The rippling leather mudguard is dressed in a vibrant crimson orange and finished with an embroidered mini Swoosh, wrapping the toe and side panels in the boldest execution of the Waves concept yet.
The rest of the upper balances that fire with a refined mix of materials: breathable grey mesh underlays, premium grey suede and leather overlays, and a black leather Swoosh that anchors the whole design. Cream tones on the tongue, laces, lining and midsole give the pair a vintage warmth, while the outsole is split into sections of black, grey and orange. The same visible Air unit, the Patta branding on the tongue and oversized on the insoles, and of course the gold Suriname bracelet complete the package.

The Hyper Crimson followed around Air Max Day. Retail was set at 150 dollars, pairs sold out immediately, and resale prices climbed well above retail within days.
