Nobody saw this one coming. On May 16, 2026, Swatch and Audemars Piguet released the Royal Pop collection, and it broke every rule of the luxury watch playbook. It is not a wristwatch. It is a set of eight Bioceramic pocket watches, worn on a lanyard, clipped to a bag, or standing on your desk. It marks the first time Swatch has collaborated with a brand outside its own group, and the first time Audemars Piguet has ever allowed the iconic Royal Oak design to be produced outside Le Brassus.
The result: queues at Swatch boutiques worldwide that rivalled the MoonSwatch launch, a strict limit of one watch per person per store per day, no online release, and a collection that sold through instantly in most cities.
Missed the drop? All eight Royal Pop editions are available at The Attic. In this guide we break down the full collection, model by model.
What Is the Royal Pop Collection?
The Royal Pop merges two Swiss icons: the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the most famous luxury sports watch ever designed, and the playful POP line that Swatch launched in the 1980s. Every signature Royal Oak code is there: the octagonal bezel, the eight hexagonal screws, the Petite Tapisserie dial pattern and the classic Royal Oak hands, all reworked in vivid Pop Art colors and Swatch's Bioceramic material.
The collection consists of eight models, a number that directly references the eight screws and the octagonal bezel of the Royal Oak. Each edition is named after the word "eight" in a different language. Six models come in the Lépine style (open face, crown at 12, hours and minutes) and two in the Savonnette style (crown at 3 with a small seconds subdial).
Under the sapphire caseback sits something genuinely special: the first ever hand wound version of Swatch's SISTEM51 movement, carrying 15 active patents, a power reserve of more than 90 hours, an antimagnetic Nivachron balance spring and Super LumiNova on the hands and markers. The barrel drums even change color as the watch winds down, acting as a visual power reserve indicator.
One more detail that made headlines: Audemars Piguet donates 100% of its proceeds from the Royal Pop to an initiative preserving rare watchmaking skills for the next generation.
All 8 Royal Pop Editions
Royal Pop Lépine "Huit Blanc" (White)
The purist's pick and arguably the smartest piece in the collection. The all white "Huit Blanc" (French for "eight white") comes with a twist: the eight colored bezel screws are assembled in a randomly generated order at the factory, with around three million possible combinations. That means every single Huit Blanc is unique. No two pairs of hands will ever hold the same configuration.

Royal Pop Lépine "Blaue Acht" (Blue)
"Blaue Acht" is German for "blue eight," and blue is sacred territory for Royal Oak fans. This edition nods to the deep blue Petite Tapisserie dials that made the original 1972 Royal Oak a legend, translated into a bold Pop Art blue Bioceramic case.

Royal Pop Lépine "Green Eight" (Green)
The English named entry in the lineup. "Green Eight" channels the current wave of green dials in luxury watchmaking and turns the volume all the way up, delivering one of the most striking colorways of the eight.

Royal Pop Lépine "Orenji Hachi" (Orange)
"Orenji Hachi" is Japanese for "orange eight," a fitting tribute to one of the most watch obsessed markets on the planet. Loud, energetic and unmistakably Pop Art, this is the edition for collectors who want their Royal Pop to be seen from across the room.

Royal Pop Lépine "Ocho Negro" (Black)
Spanish for "black eight." The stealth piece of the collection, and the easiest colorway to wear every day. The black Bioceramic case makes the Petite Tapisserie texture and the octagonal bezel geometry stand out beautifully.

Royal Pop Lépine "Otto Rosso" (Red)
"Otto Rosso" is Italian for "red eight." A fiery, bold colorway that captures the joyful spirit this collaboration was built on, and a favorite among fans of the original POP Swatch aesthetic from the 1980s.

Royal Pop Savonette "Làn Ba" (Blue, Small Seconds)
One of only two Savonnette models in the collection, "Làn Ba" carries its name from Vietnamese. The Savonnette layout moves the crown to 3 o'clock and adds a small seconds subdial, giving the watch a more classical pocket watch character and a mechanical detail the Lépine models don't have.

Royal Pop Savonette "OTG Roz" (Pink)
The grail of the collection. "OTG Roz" takes its name from Romansh, Switzerland's fourth and least spoken official language, and its pink, yellow and teal palette is directly inspired by the Marilyn Monroe series by Andy Warhol. As the most artistic piece of the eight and one of only two Savonnette models, the OTG Roz immediately became the most wanted Royal Pop on the secondary market.

Why the Royal Pop Matters
Beyond the hype, the Royal Pop represents something bigger. A hand wound Swiss mechanical movement with a power reserve of 90 hours, an authorized Royal Oak design and an actual Audemars Piguet signature, at a fraction of the price of an entry level Royal Oak. For a new generation, this is the most accessible gateway into haute horlogerie that has ever existed.
It also fits perfectly into the world The Attic lives in: limited releases, drops you can only buy in store, queues around the block and pieces that gain cultural value the moment they sell out. The Royal Pop is not just a watch release. It is a streetwear drop executed by two of the biggest names in Swiss watchmaking.
