ABOUT US - OUR STORY

THE ATTIC JOURNEY

A look at where The Attic started, how the brand grew and the moments that shaped who we are today.

2016

Where it started

Founder Indy started selling second-hand clothing at the age of sixteen in his parents' attic, where he lived. Refusing to work at the local supermarket, he found a way to earn money by buying up second-hand clothing and reselling it. A great passion for streetwear and second-hand designer clothing emerged.

This is where the name The Attic was born.

2018

many hickups and first lessons doing business

As a starting small start-up entrepreneur, the market was not without risks. It involved a lot of trial and error, with situations where Indy lost all his money. It was hard work: packing everything himself, doing the administration, purchasing, and keeping an eye on trends.

2019

from offline to online

After being active on Instagram for two years, Indy built his community there with people who enjoyed buying streetwear. In 2019, the look and feel changed, and he launched www.theatticstreetwear.com for online sales. Selling used and now also, new streetwear.

end 2020

selling clothing & sneakers from the attic

Every day, Indy served customers who wanted to buy something from his attic room. In the meantime, he went to school. Meanwhile, the general demand for sneakers rose; Nike and Jordan, in particular, gained momentum. The demand for sneakers got so crazy that peopls slept outside the stores for every release to secure their shoes through a raffle.

2021

selling clothing & sneakers from the attic

Making the daily trip from the attic to the post office was no longer an option. Indy rented a small garage box to store his stock. Demand for sneakers kept growing. In 2021, Indy met a contact who could sell large volumes of shoes; he went all-in and once again reinvested everything back into inventory.

sneaker mania and shaping the brand

The journey continues

In 2022, The Attic entered a phase of accelerated growth.

2022

renting the first space

With too many shoes to store, Indy traded his garage box in the city for a unit at Shurgard. The need for space grew so fast that the rental period lasted only three months. In the meantime, he built up a network of resellers who bought directly from him.

2023

building the community online and offline

To boost sales and connect with fellow enthusiasts, The Attic has been taking part in the well-known sneaker convention Sneakerness since 2022, the biggest sneaker event in Europe. Since 2023, The Attic has been an official partner of Sneakerness Europe.

summer of 2022

upgrading the warehouse

By the summer of 2022, the Shurgard unit was bursting at the seams once again. Indy went looking for a new space for all his stock. Demand for sneakers held strong, and The Attic kept growing.

2023

streetwear, sneakers and our own clothing

The Attic also continues to specialize in buying and selling streetwear and designer items. In the meantime, Indy has built up a large network of private individuals as well as verified retailers who can supply products to The Attic. Every now and then, The Attic releases exclusive apparel of its own: reserved for friends, family and loyal customers.

2023

Educating the community and specialising in rare streetwear

Besides selling a lot of clothing and footwear here, The Attic specializes in buying and selling exclusive sneakers. In this example, we see a Jordan 4 Wahlburger worth €25,000. This year, The Attic hires its first employee, and in October 2023, The Attic stops selling to other businesses. The focus shifts fully to the company's own webshop.
